Dos and Don’ts Following a Car Accident
Tuesday, November 9th, 2010
Everyone who drives should have a plan of action in the event they are involved in a car accident. If you have a plan of action you will be able to handle the frightening and unexpected event better than if you were totally unprepared. Your reactions after a car accident may actually prevent further injuries and damages and reduce the financial, emotional and physical costs of an accident.
After a car accident it is vitally important to remain calm so you can think logically, check all involved for injuries if you are able to, call 911 and the police, do not leave the scene of the accident, notify your insurance company and contact a motor vehicle accident attorney. If you are not seriously injured and you have the ability to, try to obtain all pertinent information from the other driver and any witnesses, photograph and document the circumstances surrounding the accident and do not make admissions of fault or apologize to anyone.
